sideswipes and trailers

Does anyone know of a good source of information on the calculation of the forces involved in a sidewipe of a trailer. I'm trying to address the ball and hitch type of trailer, not necessarily a commercial tractor trailer. My interest is what effects the sideswipe has on the truck pulling the trailer.
