Joe: Not to beat a dead horse, but Ed and Bruno are correct by
stating that the pedestrian cannot fly south when hit by a northbound
vehicle. The key words that seem to be missing in this discussion are
"relative" and "absolute." The velocity of the pedestrian may appear
to be moving south "relative" to the vehicle, but its "absolute"
motion will be toward the north, the same direction as the vehicle,
due to the impact forces from the vehicle.
