Mark, Been there, done that. Stay on the job. Advance and be the sergeant or lt. in charge of the traffic unit. Get as much free education and training at their expense while you still earn a check. Apply for grants for education and equipment. Get the best and learn to use it. Save at least one year salary before you leave. You may be the best, but it will take the world a while to learn it. Learn "people skills".
