I need your expertise in understanding the death of my brother-in-law.

He was a 5'8", 150lb, very intoxicated 43yr old. He was hit by a 1982 4 door Dodge pickup. The accident happened on a well lit 4 lane blacktop at 9:30pm, there were no adverse weather conditions, the road was dry.

The vehicle was traveling south on the curb side of the road. His left tire left skid marks begins at 28'N and 12'7" east of RP. The right tire skid marks begins at 10'N and 5'10" east of RP. The skid continues to: left frt 42' souyth and 14'3" east of RP, the right frt 42'south 8'7" east of RP. The POI was 31' south of RP and 10' east of RP. The POI was determined to be 31' south of RP and 10' east of RP. The vehicle stopped: left front 64'1" south of of RP and 9'1" east of RP, the right front 51'9" south of RP and 11' east of RP. The pedestrian landed 83'5" south and 2'11" east of RP. The pedestrian landing was determined by a few blood spots and loose coins found on pavement. The friction was determined by using a 36lb drag sled used with a 26 lb pull = .72. The vehicle speed was determined to be 30.11mph before braking began.

The questions I have include: The vehicle was apparently almost stopped when he hit the pedestrian - but the pedestrian went 63 feet from POI. The angle of the vehicle on impact and the landing of the body. The pedestrian died of massive internal injuries - and apparently suffered a broken neck, skull fracture and broken facial bones and deflated eyes upon hitting the pavement. There was very little blood found at the scene of on any of the pedestrians clothing. Upon viewing the vehicle involved the phrase of "worn as a hood ornament" would be very appropiate.

You folks are the experts - does this all add up?
