Re: Speedometer Locked in Position Following a Collision

I have only seen a few, very few, collisions where this has occured.
The last one I feel was reliable only due to the fact that the driver
stated his approximate speed prior to impact. It was within a
couple mph of what the speedometer was still showing.
Dave made a good point about the collisions being virtually
head on with little or no skidmarks. That was evident
in the accident I investigated.
I would not rely on it yet alone want to try and prosecute
one soley upon a needle slap.
