Steve: You can probably find a very good estimate for the maximum acceleration capability of the 1979 Fleetwood by researching the Consumer Report magazines for their tests of a 1979 Cadillac Fleetwood or an equivalent sister car with the same engine. You may have to make a slight correction for the different weights of their tested car and your Fleetwood (the acceleration is inversely proportional to the weight). There may be similar data in other car magazines, also. Lacking such test data, I agree with Wilt's recommendation to simply bracket the impact speed by using the "Normal" and "Rapid" acceleration data, 4.8 and 9.7 ft/sec^2, respectively, that appear in the NUTI Traffic Accident Reconstruction book, page 62-38.
