Be careful using these last statistical numbers for actual fires. Often they are based on fire department responses to crash scenes, not actual fires. The fires are also sometimes lumped together in fire stats with "wash downs". A wash down is hosing off the roadway. This is done to washa way spilled fuel, or antifreeze (very slippery stuff), oil, and/or debris (tempered glass, broken plastic, etc.)
