We have just finished an ABS skid testing session. (results are yet to be compiled
for dissemination.) An adjustment factor would be very difficult to use if our
findings are considered.
The test comprised 7 vehicles and were done on asphalt with ABS and gravel
with ABS and with the ABS disabled. The ABS systems were Delco 6 EBC-4 and
TEVES. The results varied considerably from vehicle to vehicle and asphalt
to gravel. Some ABS systems had a co-efficient of as low as .37 on the gravel.
It would appear that a wide range of adjustment factors would have to be
considered and it would be more reliable to rent an identical vehicle and do
skid tests after the fact.
