Re: crush damage measurement

When I was a police officer, I didn't have a dedicated vehicle to carry my
equipment. I needed something to use for measuring vehicles, that did not
require bulky stands. I came up with the idea of using the traffic cones that
were already in the trunk of all the cruisers. One of the earlier submissions
mentioned using plastic pipe. I went with copper pipe as it is a little more
rigid. This use of copper pipe is an adaptation of an idea that Mr. Murray
Dance of Transport Canada had.
This was originally set up for profiling vehicles but obviously can be used for
measuring crush.I have put photos of my jig at:
