Ed,

At this point, I don't have any data on inertial seat belt release. In fact,
that is what I am looking for. I've read a published article that analzyes,
from a theoretical standpoint, the accelerations and forces that a seatbelt
mechanism would have to experience in order for the latch spring mechanism to
compress sufficiently to release the belt. Theory is fine, but it often
involves assumptions about a system that are nice to verify. I thought that
perhaps someone was aware of some actual experiments that had been performed
on various seatbelt latches to determine when they release.
