Tread wear during spin on wet road

Reading a newsgroup, a poster asked if it is possible to lose 1/45" of tread during a spin? He apparently went out of control on wet pavement, made several 360 degree spin over a distance of about 250 yds at 60 MPH +/-. Anyone here done any research into the amount of tread lost during a "spin out". He got a ticket for bald tires but wanted to know if he could have lost that amount of tread.
He has ASB and says the wheels were not locked, so they were most likely spinning, not leaving one patch style "flat spot".
