How is the time of a bullet fired horizontally takes to hit the ground determined? Answer: The horizontal distance is not important, only the vertical height above the ground is needed because it is gravity that is working on the bullet mass. Same is true for the CM of the pedestrian, all you need to know is how high the CM was above the ground. So calculate the time it takes to fall at 1 G and divide the distance by time to get speed.

Time = �(h/16.1) V = D/T
