What speed for a darting pedestrian??

Here's a common problem that faces us all: a pedestrian darts across empty road lanes, trying to get to the other side, only to be met by a vehicle minding its own business going down the road. The negligence question hinges primarily on the threat time of the pedestrian, which means: HOW FAST WAS HE/SHE RUNNING?

Where can I find the studies to answer this question??

Thanks ==> Dick
