Joel,

There is some limited info in AR Journal Vol. 8, No. 1 (Jan/Feb, 1996).

If you are trying to determine whether or not the vehicle had actually struck a guardrail, a detailed examination of the damage to the vehicle is required. The average galvanized steel guardrail in my area (Mass, RI) has two protruding, curved edges which are spaced 7 inches apart. These edges leave a two defined, curved impressions in the automobile sheetmetal which are also spaced 7 inches apart. The galvanized coating is sometimes transferred onto the body panels of the vehicle. A guardrail impact leaves a unique impression.
