Why shouldn't you pursue? The girls were walking on the proper side of the road against traffic and the PU crossed over to strike them. I don't think that speed is needed to show negligence. Was this driver charged in Criminal court? Why not? Incidently the MDs are typically not expert in crash analysis. The head dent in the hood can be verified as to whether or not it was from the peds head by measuring from the ground along the contour of the front of the PU onto the hood surface with a steel carpenters tape. A head impact by this person should be approx. her ht + 10% of her ht. or �68". Cervical injuries are not necessary to have severe brain injury and also are typically not found in normal autopsies (not a detailed look-see).
