Tim,

What I use is 1 1/2" PVC pipe end caps. They cost under $1.00 each. I
painted mine with high visibility orange and high visibility yellow paint.
Then I marked them A, B AA, ect. I then sprayed them with clear Laquer and
this sealed them. They are easy to carry, and the evidence eradication team
has struck them and not hurt them. I carry about 30 of each color to
specify marks from different vehicles and the street. I plan to make several
more when I find a color that is bright enough. They also photograph well.
I started with 5 of theses and found out the 1st time I used them there
was not enough. The end caps can be purchased at a local hardware store.
I hope this gives you an additional avenue to look at.
