I agree with Mr. Mitchell, also consider this. In many states, emergency vehicles are required to come to a stop if they have a red light and can only proceed when the traffic has yielded to the emergency vehicle. Good luck if you can't find any witnesses. I have successfully found drivers at fault when it could be demonstrated that they had a reasonable opportunity to see or hear the emergency vehicle.
